各所に蜂起し、国家を悩ませる。この時は梅毒とも薬毒とも見分けることができず、多くはこれを薬毒として合戦を催すが、大むねその功なく、ついに国家滅亡するのはどういうことか。」
淳直は従容として答えて言った。「それ梅毒は隠顕測り知れない病である。どうして一旦の勝利を得て心を緩めてよいものか。少しでも病国が油断をなせば、再び発して国家を攻め侵す時、梅毒賊は症状を変じてその名を定め難いゆえに、愚昧な藪医者がみだりに薬毒などと称して無益の合戦をなし、ついに国家を滅ぼすのである。
山帰来剤でも軽粉・生々乳・サルサパリラ・カロメル・スカンモニア・嗅薬等でも勝利を得た者は、あくまでその薬将を用い、梅毒賊徒の隠れ居る者をことごとく駆除して病根を断つべきである。
しかるに国中少しく治まり梅毒賊が隠れる時は、国主が油断怠慢して良医の言葉を用いず、薬将を差し置き、肉酒を

取り入れ、女国に交わり、再び国家の大乱を引き出す。その時、盲医が讒言を構え、『これは皆あの薬毒の発する所である』と言って、始め功を立てた薬将を遠ざけ、無益の補剤などをもって戦わしめ、功なき時は、いよいよ以前の有功の薬将を謗り、『彼の毒勢甚だしくして全治し難し』と言い、己が拙さを隠す計略をなす。
病国もまたこれを信じ、有功の薬将を罵ってやまず、『この上は』とて、或いは八卦占い算、或いは祈祷願立てと徒らに月日を送り、座ながらにして亡国を待つ。憫笑すべきの至りではないか。
まだ梅毒方が必死の症に至らない内に、早く有功の薬将を再び用いて戦わしめば、賊徒を討ち滅ぼし、程なくして国家全治の太平を致すこと必定である。これをもって薬毒の害に非ず、梅毒賊徒の再発なることを知るべし。
今、世上に梅毒の逆乱により滅亡する国甚だ多し。これは医・国主・薬将を

Whether using sarsaparilla preparations, calomel, quicksilver, sarsaparilla, calomel, scammony, nasal medicines, or other treatments, those who achieve victory should employ their medicinal generals to the utmost, completely driving out the hiding syphilis bandits and cutting off the root of the disease.
However, when the nation becomes somewhat pacified and the syphilis bandits hide, the sovereign becomes negligent and lazy, does not heed the good doctor's words, sets aside the medicinal generals, and takes in meat and wine,

At that time, blind doctors construct slanderous words, saying 'This is all caused by that drug toxicity,' and distance the medicinal generals who initially achieved merit, making them fight with useless tonics and supplements. When these prove ineffective, they increasingly slander the previously meritorious medicinal generals, saying 'Their toxic power is so severe that complete cure is difficult,' thus devising schemes to hide their own incompetence.
The diseased nation also believes this and ceaselessly reviles the meritorious medicinal generals. 'At this point,' they say, and either turn to divination and fortune-telling, or to prayers and vow-making, wastefully spending months and years, sitting idle while awaiting national destruction. Is this not the height of pitiable absurdity?
