治しやすい。天稟の毒が深重なるものは伝染しやすく、かつ治しがたい。世俗は天稟の毒があることを知らず、父母の梅毒を受け継ぎ瘡毒の発するのみを胎毒と思っているが、天稟の毒すなわち胎毒なり。その伝染するとしないと、伝染して軽重があるのは、漆の気に感ずるとしないと、これに感じて軽重があるようなもので、みなこれ天稟の毒の有無・厚薄・生質の不同によるものなり。疱瘡・麻疹のようなものは、その毒が酷烈なるを以て、胎毒に和する時、正気と戦う故に必ず大いに発熱する。この病気一たび病んで癒える時は、天稟の毒が邪毒と共に尽きて再び伝染せず。これは疱瘡・麻疹のみにあらず、梅毒・疥癬のようなものも、その症によく応じたる薬を以てその病根を抜く時は、再び伝染の憂いなし。これはその天稟の毒が尽きるが故なり。これらは難しいことにあらず、よく思ってしり給え」と

言葉に迷いなく弁舌さわやかにして、数番の問答を響きの声に応ずるように、滔々と弁じ終われば、諸医は屈伏の色を現し、再び言葉を発する者なし。かかる所に滑田順才・不実貪欲の両人、きっと目を注し、一度に刀を抜いて跳り出で「淳直匹夫よ、つくと聞け。我々両鬼神、梅毒大王の命によって医者となって入り込み、汝等が軍配を妨げ、武勇の薬将を遠ざけ、梅軍へ内通し、この国を始め属国も尽く亡ぼさんと思いしに、汝に支えられ、その計りごとが行われざるのみか、耳鼻を切られ追い払われなば、梅毒大王の怒りに遭うこと必定せり。今はこれまで、両人が死に物狂いなるぞ、観念せよ」と、まっしぐらに討ってかかる。淳直は少しも騒がず身をかわして、はっと白眼「おのれらのような浅ましき悪鬼が、万物の長たる人間に近づき仇をなさん
