いまだ虚弱（きよじやく）ならず大便（たいべん）かたく腸液（ちやうゑき）下（くだ）らざるは大吉（だいきち）なり不日（ふじつ）
に奇計（きけい）をもつて此（この）悪徒（あくと）を平（たいら）ぐべし心（こゝろ）を安（やす）んじてうれへ玉ふ
事（こと）なかれ先（まづ）軍立（いくさだて）をなすべしと諸（しよ）薬將（やくしやう）を召（めし）つどへ先後（せんご）陣（ぢん）

淳直はこれを制して「汝等は無益の争いをなすことを止めよ。それ病に種々の症があり、薬にもまた応不応がある。例えば黴効散が勝ちを得ない病に延寿丸を用いて勝ちを取り、延寿丸の功なかりしところへ黴効散が向かって奇勲を立てる。勝否取捨は一例なりがたし。当国にあるところの上部の結毒などには、世医はただ臭薬でなければ叶わないように思っている。これは甚だ誤りである。黴賊の攻め入るところ、上下左右内外の差別があるべからず。その変態は百条なりとも、ただこれ一種の黴賊なり。その症に応ずる時はいかなる薬も功を立てる。これまで延寿丸が所々の軍に功ありしは、よくその症に応ずるがゆえなり。さりとて必ず黴効散に勝るには非ず。その症に応ぜざる時は黴効散に譲ることもあるべし。まずこの度は延寿丸を用ゆるといえども、先陣には十全大補湯

Junchoku restrained them, saying: "You should cease this pointless quarreling. Diseases have various symptoms, and medicines also have their applications and non-applications. For example, Enjugan can be used to achieve victory against diseases where Baikosan cannot win, and Baikosan can go forth and establish remarkable merits where Enjugan was ineffective. Victory and defeat, adoption and rejection cannot follow a single pattern. For the upper body nodular syphilis that exists in this country, worldly doctors think that only aromatic medicines will work. This is a grave error. Where the syphilis bandits attack, there should be no distinction between upper and lower, left and right, internal and external. Even if there are a hundred variations of symptoms, they are all just one type of syphilis bandit. When the medicine matches the symptoms, any medicine can achieve merit. The reason Enjugan has been successful in battles everywhere until now is because it well matched those symptoms. However, this does not necessarily mean it surpasses Baikosan. When it does not match the symptoms, it should yield to Baikosan. First, although we will use Enjugan this time, for the vanguard we shall use Juzen-taiho-to
