六一 陸軍紀念日 (十日)
明治三十七八年戰役に際し、同三十八年三月十日、我が日本軍が奉天の大會戰に於いて露軍をして再び
起つ能はざらしむるまでに粉碎して大勝利を博し、講和を早めた國民の等しく忘却できぬ國家的紀念日で
ある。
六二 金刀比羅詣 (十日) 舊
この日は岩田町田尻の琴平神社の祭禮で近鄕よりの賽客多く、植木市が立つ。
六三 彼岸 (春分前後七日)
春分の日を中日と云ひ前三日に入り、後三日で明ける。この一週間を彼岸といふ。一般に墓參をし、彼
岸團子を拵へて親戚緣者に配る。
六四 春季皇靈祭 (二十一日ヵ二十二日)
春分と秋分の日には、宮中に於かせられては、皇靈殿で曆代の天皇、皇后、皇妃、皇親の神靈をお祭り
する御親祭が行はせられる。尚この日宮中の神殿では、八神並に天神地祇を御親祭遊ばされる神殿祭があ
る。
この皇靈祭の始原は、明治四年の春で、それが春秋二季になつたのは明治十一年からである。

社日とは春分、または秋分の日に最も近い戊（つちのえ）の日のことで、この日石の鳥居のある神社を七ヶ所巡拜す
ると長病しないといふので、今も尚行はれてゐる。この日はいろ〳〵の種を蒔いて、田の神と土の神を祭
るべき日だといふ。燕はこの春の社日に來るといふ。
イ、參詣者にはツマメ(つまんでつくる)といふ菓子を頒つ。(牛川)
ロ、有志の人石の鳥居のあるお宮を十社詣る。(植田)

弘法大師入定の正忌日で、眞言宗の寺では大師の御影を安置して供養する。近頃他宗の寺でも行ふ。參
詣人夥しく、殊に八十八ヶ所のある所では、これを巡つて歩く善男善女でひきもきらず、雜沓を來す。こ
の日信心家で餅、菓子、甘酒、旗等を接待する九月二十一日も同様に賑ふ。

六八 水口祭 (下旬)
水口は苗代へ水を引き入れる口で、ここから水が入らないと稻苗が枯死するので、籾を蒔上げた時之を
祭る。

61 Army Memorial Day (10th day)
During the Russo-Japanese War of 1904-1905, on March 10, 1905, the Japanese army completely crushed the Russian army in the great battle of Mukden to the point where they could not rise again, achieving a great victory and hastening the peace treaty. This is a national memorial day that all citizens can never forget.
62 Kotohira Pilgrimage (10th day) Old custom
This day is the festival of Kotohira Shrine in Tajiri, Iwata-machi, which draws many worshippers from neighboring areas, and a plant market is held.
63 Higan (Equinox Week) (Seven days around the spring equinox)
The spring equinox day is called the middle day, with three days before as the beginning and three days after as the end. This one week is called Higan. People generally visit graves and make Higan dango to distribute to relatives and acquaintances.
64 Spring Imperial Spirit Festival (21st or 22nd day)
On the spring and autumn equinox days, imperial ceremonies are held at the Imperial Spirit Hall in the palace to worship the spirits of successive emperors, empresses, imperial consorts, and imperial relatives. On this day there is also a Shrine Festival at the palace shrine where the Emperor personally worships the Eight Deities as well as the heavenly and earthly deities.
The origin of this Imperial Spirit Festival was in the spring of Meiji 4, and it became a biannual spring and autumn observance from Meiji 11.

65 Shanichi Pilgrimage (Shanichi day)
Shanichi refers to the day of the earth element (tsuchinoe) closest to the spring or autumn equinox. It is said that visiting seven shrines with stone torii gates on this day prevents chronic illness, so this practice continues today. This day is said to be when various seeds should be sown and the rice field deity and earth deity worshipped. Swallows are said to arrive on this spring Shanichi.

66 Miei-ku (Memorial Service for Kōbō Daishi) (21st day) Old custom
This is the true death anniversary of Kōbō Daishi's entering meditation, and Shingon sect temples enshrine the master's portrait and hold memorial services. Recently other sects also observe this. There are countless pilgrims, especially at places with the 88-temple pilgrimage route, where an endless stream of devout men and women walk the circuit, creating crowds. On this day, the faithful provide hospitality with rice cakes, sweets, sweet rice wine, flags, etc. September 21st is similarly bustling.

68 Mizuguchi Festival (Late in the month)
Mizuguchi is the inlet where water is drawn into the rice seedbed. Since rice seedlings will die if water cannot enter here, this is worshipped when rice seeds are sown.
