き、鼓や鐘を打つて時を國民に御知らせになつたのが我が國に於ける濫觴で、それが六月十日に當るの
で、この日を「時の記念日」として、時間觀念の普及に力を注いでゐる。

On this day, hydrangeas are hung from the eaves to ward off evil diseases.

On this day, Mount Ōmine is worshipped. A hōin (Shingon Buddhist priest) makes sacred wands, burns sacred fire (goma), and performs day-waiting rituals. (Tsuda)

When Emperor Tenji was crown prince, he first created something called a water clock (rōkoku) and placed it at the new astronomical observatory, striking drums and bells to inform the people of the time. This was the beginning in our country, and since this corresponds to June 10th, this day has been designated as "Time Memorial Day," with efforts focused on spreading awareness of time concepts.
