一 工産品と其額
本市の工産額は一ヶ年二千六百十一万五千七百四十八円、其重なるものは生糸、玉糸、麻真田、毛筆、
衛生陶器、漁網、醤油及溜、木製品、清涼飲料水、菓子、飴、清酒、氷糖、皮革製品等であつて近来絹
織物及再製絹糸并に之が加工品著しく勃興しつゝある。
就中蚕糸業は其首位を占め、製糸場は九百十六、釜数一万五千六百五十一、職工数一万五千九百十一
であつて年産額は

に上り、此原料として本邦各産地より市内に搬入せらるゝ繭は七千二百九十五瓲の多きに達して居る、
殊に玉糸は本場の上州を凌駕し所謂豊橋玉糸の特産地である、本市は長野県諏訪地方と共に我国製糸界
の二大中心地として内外に知悉せられて居る、市内花田町一帯の工場地域の如きは煙突林立黒烟常に天
に沖するを見るのである。

The city's annual industrial production value amounts to 26,115,748 yen, with the main products being raw silk, silk yarn, hemp sennit, writing brushes, sanitary ceramics, fishing nets, soy sauce and tamari, wooden products, soft drinks, confectionery, candy, sake, rock sugar, leather products, etc. Recently, silk textiles and reprocessed silk thread along with their processed goods are remarkably flourishing.
Among these, the sericulture industry occupies the leading position, with 916 silk mills, 15,651 reeling basins, and 15,911 workers, with an annual production value of:

Cocoons transported into the city from various production areas throughout Japan amount to as much as 7,295 tons as raw materials. Particularly, silk yarn surpasses that of Joshu (the traditional center) and has become a specialty known as Toyohashi silk yarn. The city is known both domestically and internationally as one of the two major centers of Japan's silk industry, along with the Suwa region of Nagano Prefecture. In industrial areas such as the Hanada-cho district in the city, one can see factory chimneys standing like a forest, with black smoke constantly rising to the sky.
