現代語訳
その人の声を聞く。自分の羊の名を呼んで連れ出す。自分の羊を全て連れ出したとき、その人は前を歩き、羊はその人についていく。その人の声を知っているからである。彼らは他人にはついていかない。ただその人を恐れて逃げていく。他人の声を知らないからである。」イエスはこのように譬えて言われたが、彼らはイエスの言われることを理解しなかった。
イエスは再び彼らに言われた。「まことに、まことに、あなたがたに言う。わたしは羊の門である。わたしより前に来た者はみな、盗人であり強盗である。羊は彼らの言うことを聞かなかった。わたしは門である。わたしによって入る者は救われ、その人は入ったり出たりして、牧草を見つけるであろう。盗人が来るのは、盗み、殺し、滅ぼすためである。しかし彼らが豊かな命を得るために、わたしは命を与えるために来た。わたしは良い牧者である。羊のために

hear his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. A stranger they will not follow, but they will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers." So Jesus again said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. But that they may have abundant life, I came to give life.
