嘉永七寅四月六日正午之刻御所様近辺より出火いたし
折節東風はげしく御所之内過半焼中立売御門より
西に出堀川西へ焼ぬけ西は凡千本通り迄東は寺町 西
かは迄六十七年已来之大火也翌七日五ツ時之刻火鎮り申候

嘉永七年寅年四月六日正午の時刻に御所様近辺より出火し、
折しも東風が激しく、御所の内の過半が焼失し、中立売御門より
西に出て堀川西へ焼け抜け、西は凡そ千本通りまで、東は寺町・西
川まで、六十七年来の大火であった。翌七日五つ時の刻に火が鎮まった。

【Title: Illustration of the Great Fire of Kyoto】
【Below the title】
On the 6th day of the 4th month of Kaei 7 (Year of the Tiger), at noon, a fire broke out near the Imperial Palace.
As it happened, the east wind was fierce, and more than half of the Imperial Palace burned down. The fire spread west from Nakadachiuri Gate, burned through to the west of the Horikawa River, extending west to approximately Senbon Street and east to Teramachi and Nishi River. This was the greatest fire in 67 years. On the following 7th day, at the hour of the Snake (around 10 AM), the fire was extinguished.

From the hour of the Horse on the 6th day of the 4th month of Kaei 7 (Year of the Tiger), (fire broke out) near the Kyoto Imperial Palace and was extinguished at the hour of the Snake on the following 7th day.
