下総の国司として赴任していたが、任期を終えて
都に上ってきた頃、源俊頼朝臣に
送った歌 源仲正
東国の幾重にも重なった霞を分けて来たけれども
あなたにお会いできなければ、なお隔てられている心地がいたします
返歌 源俊頼朝臣
書き絶えしままの月橋、
その手紙を見れば隔てていた
霞も晴れて迎えることが
できる

a poem sent to Minamoto no Toshiyori Asomi Minamoto no Nakamasa
Though I have come through the layered mists
of the eastern provinces, without meeting you,
I still feel as though we are separated

The moon bridge where writing ceased,
reading that letter, the mist
that had separated us clears
and I can welcome you
