Nagon Tsunetō was dispatched as an imperial messenger, and prayers were offered to the Great Shrine of Ise regarding this matter. There were also prayers at shrines throughout the provinces, and there were many divine oracles as signs of their efficacy. Among these, the oracle of the wind god of Ise was particularly remarkable. Indeed, around the hour of the horse (noon) on that first day of intercalary seventh month, a violent storm arose, and the enemy's 3,500 ships were immediately tossed by the waves, smashed and sunk with their crews drowning. The remaining enemies were on an island called Takashima, trying to repair their ships to return, but our imperial forces also attacked them there and completely destroyed them all. The Yuan History states: "In the first month of the 18th year of Zhiyuan, orders were given to Japan Provincial Right Chancellor Alahan, Right Vice-Administrator Fan Wenhu, and Xin Du, Hong Chaqiu and others to lead 100,000 men to conquer Japan (etc.). In the sixth month, Alahan was unable to go due to illness, so Adahai was ordered to take his place and oversee military affairs. In the eighth month, the various generals returned having lost their entire army without even seeing the enemy, saying 'We reached Japan and attempted to attack Dazaifu, but violent winds destroyed our ships (etc.).' Soon after, the defeated soldier Yu Chang escaped and returned, saying 'The official army entered the sea in the sixth month, reached Heiko Island in the seventh month, and moved to Goryuzan. On the first day of the eighth month, wind destroyed the ships, and on the fifth day Wenhu and others
