(The annual records of events [nenchū gyōji] also note that any surplus should be sent.) The quantities are as follows: For the Tone: sake 5 gō (total), flower petals [hanabira] 4 pieces, persimmons 7, chestnuts 5, skate/ray 1 piece For the Sumo Nakama (sumo fellowship/association): sake 5 gō (total), flower petals 5 pieces, persimmons 10, chestnuts 10, skate/ray 1 piece (when insufficient, half each) For the Jinnin (shrine servants): sake 2 gō (total), flower petals 2 pieces, persimmons 3, chestnuts 3 (to be sent) (This year, the Jinnin did not come, and therefore nothing was sent.) With the above concluded, the Chōya (administrative hall) was closed as before, and everyone withdrew. The time was around the half of the Inokoku (approximately 11:00 p.m.). The Ninth Day Clear One entry: The items brought in advance for the Chōyō (Double Ninth Festival) divine rites were as follows: Tachi swords (two), hei-gushi (offering wands/staffs, two), shōgi/tokigi (folding stools, two), sashifu (credential documents, two) After the morning meal, the two individuals Tsunetoki (acting as Daiei/Nae) and Onken (each dressed in jōe [white purification robes] and sashinu [formal divided skirts]) proceeded promptly to the shrine precinct. Four individuals carrying bunsō (document holders) and wearing swords (also in jōe and sashinu) accompanied them, and they waited for the divine rites to conclude. As customary, after the rites before the deity were completed, sumo wrestling took place in the south garden of the Hosodono (a narrow hall/corridor building), and all procedures and protocols were carried out as per precedent. The two sashifu (credential documents) were both received and taken back by the Daikan (deputy official). The bunsō duties were carried out by Keiken and Edakiyo; the sword-bearing duties by Oaken and Shōmarudayū. The Nineteenth Day One entry: The airing [fūire] of the full set of costumes for the Ashida Kiba (stilt horse race) was carried out. (In advance, notification of the date was sent to the Shōzoku-bugyō [costume magistrates], and four day laborers [hibu] were assigned through Gorōtarō.) From after the morning meal, the Shōzoku-bugyō (costume magistrates), Norihisa (acting as Okuhisa), Toshiyasu...
