Item: Articles to be brought to the chōya (administrative building): two hegi (thin wooden plates), two inkstones (to be placed on the hegi), two sticks of ryūkei (dragon-shaped) ink, two pairs of brushes (white-haired), and two copies of the sashifu (assignment tallies) from the first day of the month.
Item: On the fifth day, robes (shōzoku) are to be distributed to the mounted attendants (norigiri-shū), the shrine priests (kannushi), those of both hierarchical ranks below (ryōkaika), and the Onmyōji (yin-yang diviners). The circular notice (kaijō) is distributed the day before by the Shōzoku Bugyō (Robing Administrators), so the daikan (deputies) are not involved in this matter. After the morning meal, the two Shōzoku Bugyō are to proceed first, followed by the senior deputy (saki-daikan, one person) and the current deputies (tō-daikan, four persons) — three of them in jōe (white ritual robes) and one in ōkazuiki (a large garment). As soon as the four laborers arrive, the key to the chōya is to be requested from the shoshi (shrine administrator) and handed over. At this time, if among the three first-riders (hatsunori) there are those who have items in custody, the laborers are instructed to remove both upper and lower sections of the shitomi (wooden latticed shutters) from the kiriita (cut planks) upward.
Thereupon, the Shōzoku Bugyō and two deputies proceed to Takakura to bring out the costume boxes. Of the four nagabitsu (long trunks), the one containing the robes for the first day of the month is brought out in order and set aside; additionally, the costume boxes for those of both ranks below and the Onmyōji are transported by the laborers to the chōya. First, the senior deputy and the Shōzoku Bugyō break the seals, and the left and right costume boxes are arranged in two rows as per custom (left side to the south, right side to the north). However, the rightmost box of the first set is placed in the main hall (omoya). Once the right-side arrangement is complete, the laborers are instructed that when the bell of the Jingūji (shrine-affiliated temple) is struck, the mounted attendants (norigiri-shū) are each to assemble and receive their items one by one upon inspection.
