Vermilion umbrellas (together with their bags) and fuku-kinu (gift silk): the same applies to both left and right groups as described above. Item: The ranobako (disorder boxes/boxes for disordered hair accessories) for both left and right groups are to be borrowed through close personal connections (nyūkon) from the Onmyō Tayū (head of the Yin-Yang diviners) and the Shoshi Tayū (head deputy administrator). However, in the current year, when an attempt was made to borrow the left group's ranobako from the Onmyō Tayū with only minimal courtesy, the request was not accepted. Accordingly, the matter was brought to the assembly hall (kaisho) of the Funkyō-soe clan, whereupon the assembly hall conveyed a request to the Onmyō office urging proper courtesies to be extended, and this was duly accepted. As a result, upon being asked by the assembly hall of the Funkyō-soe clan to attend with appropriate courtesies, the Funkyō (soe clan representative) went to collect the items. Item: At nightfall (nyūya), the two kaika officials are to perform the nōhei shūrei (rehearsal for the offering of heihaku sacred streamers), confer with the norigiri-shū (mounted attendants) regarding the procedures for the day itself, and then proceed to the sanrō-sho (the place of ritual seclusion and vigil). Item: Items to be placed in the ranobako: One kataki (flat wooden board); one inkstone; one set of brushes; one ink stick; one番附 (program/ranking list, together with its bag); two folding fans (for left and right); one plain white everyday fan. Item: Natsu ishiuchi-han (summer stone-belt stipends): three to (approx. 54 liters) of rice each, to be distributed by the shoku-chū (senior shrine officials). Item: The kurakake (saddle rack) for the kaika kōken (attendant/supervisor of the kaika officials) is to be borrowed from wherever possible and kept ready. The Fourth Day Item: Assemble all items needed for tomorrow in advance. Item: Ranō (cord fastenings); Item: Binmizu (hair-dressing water); Item: Noburo (portable field bath); Item: Tea bowl. Item: Five sets of cedar chopsticks (sugi-hashi).
