It is essential that seats be arranged in proportion to the number of people attending (参勤). Diagram showing how to arrange persimmons and chestnuts: [Diagram] (5 persimmons / 5 chestnuts) — Prepared by splitting one piece each [Diagram] (showing dimensions in straw) After the sumo wrestling concluded, the shrine officials (shashi) gathered at the Doya (土屋, the earthen/clay building) and, following the customary direct-return banquet (naorai) upon the withdrawal of the daily offerings (nikku), took their seats in the Chōya (administrative hall) as usual. The Shōjin Tōnin (head of the abstinence group) and their associates did likewise. At that time, the Daikan (代官, deputy official) summoned the Tone, and sake — poured into a ceremonial flask (chōshi) — was passed around together with accompanying food. After the first round of passing was completed, the two Daikan came forward into the gathering and offered greetings: "How is the sake? Please help yourselves." Next, the ceremony of the second and third cups proceeded, and after the fifth cup was completed, everyone dispersed. Particularly regarding this evening's chopsticks and the passing of food (mononotōshi): The Tone made the announcement, and there were no incidents. After the shrine officials withdrew, the Tone and shrine servants (jinnin) sent the following to the lodgings of the sumo wrestlers: sake, flower petals (hana/ha), persimmons, chestnuts, and thornback ray (ei), etc. The quantities were as follows (Note: The annual records state "to be sent when there is a surplus"): For the Tone: 5 gō of sake in total, 4 flat flower petal portions, 7 persimmons, 5 chestnuts, 1 whole thornback ray For the sumo wrestlers' company: 5 gō of sake in total, 5 rice cakes, 10 persimmons, 10 millet/chestnuts, 1 thornback ray If there is a shortage, half portions are given. For the shrine servants (jinnin): 2 gō of sake in total, 2 rice cakes, 3 persimmons and 3 chestnuts each. This year, since the shrine servants did not come, nothing was sent to them. After the above was completed, the Chōya was closed as before, and everyone withdrew. At that time, it was approximately the Hour of the Boar (亥刻, around 9–11 PM). Those in attendance this evening: two persons
