《八番の左》八番衆の乗尻季憲《六歟七番の右》両人を密かに自宿所より呼び来たらしめた間、即刻参籠所を退下し、これにより両人の浄衣着を名代として先ず参籠・社参があった。翌日（三日）辰刻に彼の後室が死去した。

件の両人故障の由、翌三日に風聞があったといえども、右両人より何方へも届けが無い間、六番衆・八番衆より吟味があった。
《参宮の祓以前故障になる人の代として浄衣着に乗らせることに先例無き事》【朱書】
参宮の祓以前に故障の人の代として浄衣着に乗らせる事は先例が無い。仍って件の趣旨を右両手より一社に届け、一社の評に及んだ。則ち季秋・季憲を閣き、六番衆より安俊《八番の左》、八番衆より氏市《六番の右》を兼ね頼み、右両人が勤めるべき旨を初乗中・乗尻中へ披露し、各々聞き届けられた。
この後また安俊・氏市等二人が俄かに病気になったので、浄衣着を以って勤めたい旨を、彼の両人が参籠所へ使者を以って申し達した。但し急事のため料簡の上、両人共に浄衣着にて勤めるべき旨の内許があった故である。則ち安俊の代に清遠、氏市の代に季陳が、五日の馬上前日の参籠・社参、尤も賀茂別雷神社への参詣・奉幣等を始終勤めた。

The two riders Sukenori from the eighth group《left of eighth group》and 《right of sixth or seventh group》were secretly summoned from their residences. They immediately withdrew from the prayer retreat quarters, and as their substitutes wearing purification robes, preliminary prayer retreat and shrine visits were conducted. On the following day (3rd day) at the hour of the dragon (7-9 AM), that widow died.

Regarding the incapacitation of these two men, although there were rumors on the following 3rd day, since neither of the two men reported to anywhere, there was an investigation by the sixth and eighth groups.

There was no precedent for having substitutes ride wearing purification robes for those who become incapacitated before the purification ritual for shrine visit. Therefore, this matter was reported from both sides to the entire shrine community, and it became a matter for evaluation by the entire shrine. Consequently, Kiaki and Sukenori were set aside, and Yasutoshi from the sixth group《left of eighth group》and Ujiichi from the eighth group《right of sixth group》were additionally requested. It was announced to the senior riders and the riders' group that these two men should perform the duties, and each group acknowledged this.
After this, the two men Yasutoshi and Ujiichi also suddenly fell ill, so they sent word through messengers to the prayer retreat quarters that they wished to perform their duties wearing purification robes. However, due to the urgent nature of the situation, after deliberation, there was internal permission for both men to perform their duties wearing purification robes. Thus, Kiyotō as substitute for Yasutoshi and Suechika as substitute for Ujiichi performed throughout the preliminary prayer retreat and shrine visit the day before the 5th day horse riding, as well as the pilgrimage to Kamowakeikazuchi Shrine and ritual offerings.
