此度
女院御所御事ニ付競馬神事之儀高貴御方
御凶事之節も勤来候旧記相勘御伝奏坊城
大納言殿江奉窺候処旧例分明之上者例
年之通可相勤之旨被 仰出一社畏入候右

此後又伝奏ゟ召ニ被下惣代参上之処競馬之
儀先日執行候様ニ与ハ不申入候群集之神事
ニ候間相止可然歟尚ケ様之儀ハ武家ニも預ル
事ニ候間猶武家へも相尋候様ニ与申ニ急度
行へト申渡候様二武家へ届候事相違之由被
仰依之此方ニハ雑掌中務帋面之通則中
務迄申入ニ付中務仰天依之畢竟社家誤ニも
不成和様ニ被仰依之又武家へ相届有書付記

この度
女院御所の御事につき、競馬神事の儀、高貴な御方の
御凶事の節も勤めて来た候旧記を相い勘え、御伝奏坊城
大納言殿へ窺い奉り候ところ、旧例分明の上は例
年の通り相い勤めるべきの旨仰せ出され、一社畏れ入り候。右
御届け申し上げ候。以上

この後また伝奏より召し下され、惣代参上のところ、競馬の
儀、先日執行候ようにとは申し入れておらず、群集の神事に
候間、相い止めるべきか。尚、このような儀は武家にも関わる
事に候間、なお武家へも相い尋ね候ようにと申すに、急度
行えと申し渡し候ように武家へ届け候事、相違の由仰せられ、
これによりこちらには雑掌中務、紙面の通り則ち中
務まで申し入れにつき、中務仰天、これによりひっきょう社家の誤りにも
ならず和やかになるよう仰せられ、これによりまた武家へ相い届けある書付記

This time
Regarding the matter of the Empress Dowager's residence, concerning the horse racing ritual, we consulted the old records of how this has been conducted even during periods of mourning for noble persons, and inquired of Lord Bōjō, Major Counselor and court liaison. As the ancient precedent is clear, he issued the directive that it should be conducted as in previous years, and the shrine humbly accepts this. The above is submitted for notification. Above stated.

After this, the court liaison summoned [us] again, and when the chief representative attended, [he said] regarding the horse racing matter, we did not request that it be carried out as on the previous day, and since it is a ritual involving crowds, should it perhaps be stopped? Furthermore, since such matters also involve the military government, when we said that the military government should also be consulted, there was a discrepancy in what was reported to the military government, as if we had instructed them to "carry it out immediately." Due to this directive, here on our side, the shrine administrator Nakatsukasa, according to the written document, then made the report to Nakatsukasa, whereupon Nakatsukasa was astonished. Consequently, he directed that this should be resolved harmoniously without it becoming an error on the part of the shrine families. Accordingly, the written notification to be submitted to the military government is recorded below:
