右之例考出候愈延引之覚悟候御序ニ被入御

現代語訳
女三宮様 《割書：私注：後に清令日記を調べたところ、延宝三年閏四月二十六日に薨去された。御馬警固が例の通り献上されたことは分明である》
延宝三年四月二十六日薨去、御所司に御馬を
献上されたように見受けられます
右の通り、後日旨顕の物語により私が聞いたところでは、東照宮の
御時には御馬が例の通り献上されたことが競馬記に明らかに
記されているとのこと。すなわち騎手の下にその御奉行板倉殿の
御馬とあるとのことで、書出記入一覧に後刻競馬記を
写し給うよう申し来たので、すぐに旨顕へ写して遣わした。
右の趣旨をまた伝奏へも雑掌まで手紙を以て申し入れた記録
《割書：触穢により両日の競馬会延引の例書》【朱書】
二水記に云う、大永六年六月一日午の時、賀茂競馬を
《割書：私注：後に考えるに二水記では六月十一日十五日両日の儀のため》
足を揃えて見物させ《割書：式日が触穢により延引》、近辺の衆を誘引して
経所で一盞、神光院で振舞いがあった《割書：省略》
また社家記に云う、廃朝廃務の時、五月五日の競馬を
延引した例として、大永六《割書：丙戌》年四月七日に
後柏原院が崩御された際、競馬を延引して六月朔日から
五日にかけて行われた。
右の例を考え出したところ、いよいよ延引の覚悟をしております。御序でに御
覧になっていただきたい所見の条、早々貴様までこのように御座候。
参上して申し上げるべきですが、特に差し迫った儀もございませんので
このようにいたします。もちろん御返報には及びません。以上

Princess Onna-san-no-miya 《Marginal note: My note: Later examining the Seirei diary, she died on the intercalary 4th month, 26th day of Enpō 3. It is clear that horses for guard duty were offered as usual》
Died on April 26th, Enpō 3 [1675], it appears that horses were
offered to the Imperial Court office
As stated above, according to what I heard later from Shiaki's account, during the time of Tōshō-gū,
horses were clearly offered as usual, as is clearly
recorded in the Keiba-ki (Horse Racing Records). Specifically, under the riders it states that those were the
horses of Magistrate Itakura-dono who was in charge, and since a request came to copy the Keiba-ki
later in the written record overview, I immediately copied it and sent it to Shiaki.
I also reported this matter to the Densō (imperial messenger) through the temple administrator by letter.

The Nisui-ki states: On June 1st, Daiei 6, at the hour of the Horse, Kamo horse racing

was arranged for viewing with feet properly positioned 《Marginal note: the ceremonial day was postponed due to ritual defilement》, local people were invited and
there was entertainment with sake at the sutra hall and at Shinkō-in temple 《Marginal note: omitted》
Also, the Shake-ki states: As an example of postponing the May 5th horse racing
during times of court mourning and suspension of duties, in Daiei 6 《Marginal note: Year of the Fire-Dog》, on April 7th,
when Emperor Go-Kashiwabara passed away, the horse racing was postponed and
held from June 1st to the 5th.
Having researched the above precedents, we are now prepared for postponement. These are matters that should be
reviewed at your convenience, so I am writing to you hastily like this.
