一五番之番左右共勝負之鉾ゟ以前ニ而落馬
ニ付入直之旨左方階下ゟ申来故右方階下
ゟ右之趣出シ口肝煎中迄申入被入直処左方
義保落馬ニ而殊外痛有之乗馬之儀難成
旨被申乍然勝負も不決左様之儀ニ而ハ不
相済儀其上落馬以後又々乗馬ニて出シ口迄
被乗下候へ者別而乗馬無之而ハ不相済旨
申入候得共何分ニも乗馬之儀者難成旨ニ付
然者名代ニ而も可被立旨申入代之儀社頭へ
被申遣候得共一分之入魂ニてハ乗馬難致候
階下ゟも名代可致旨ニ候ハゝ各別与之返答故
左候得者彼是間取滞ニも可相成間居負
ニて事被済可然哉乍然其儀者階下ゟ指
図者難成候一向階下ハ不存分与申入漸居負
ニて成文計乗馬事相済者也乍然冠
頭も不合馬之口ヲモ不放殊ニ馬ヲ南向ニ而之
居負段々不法之儀共不法之義共仍重而之
例ニハ不可成者也

一、五番の勝負において、左右共に勝負の鉾（決着点）より以前に落馬したため、入直（再戦）をする旨を左方の階下から申し出てきたので、右方の階下からもその趣旨を出し口の肝煎中まで申し入れ、再戦を行うことになったところ、左方の義保は落馬によって格別に痛みがあり、乗馬することが困難である旨を申し出ました。しかしながら勝負も決まっておらず、そのような事では済まない件であり、その上落馬以後再び乗馬にて出し口まで乗り下ってこられたのであれば、特に乗馬できないわけではないはずである旨を申し入れましたが、何分にも乗馬の件は困難である旨でした。それならば名代でも立てるべき旨を申し入れ、代理の件を社頭へ申し遣わしましたが、一分（本人）の入魂でなければ乗馬は困難である旨の回答でした。
階下からも名代を出す旨であれば格別との返答であったため、そうであればあれこれ時間がかかり滞りにもなるので、居負（不戦敗）にて事を済ませるのがよろしいかと思われますが、しかしその件は階下から指図するのは困難で、全く階下は不存分（不本意）であると申し入れ、ようやく居負にて成文（右方の勝者）だけが乗馬することで事が済みました。しかしながら冠も合わせず、馬の口も放さず、特に馬を南向きにしての居負は、段々と不法な件々であり、重ねての例にはならないものです。

1. In the fifth race, both left and right riders fell from their horses before reaching the decisive point (hoko) of the match, so the left side's kajika (lower-ranking official) requested a rematch (iri-nao). The right side's kajika also conveyed this intent to the chief coordinators (kimoiri-chū) at the starting point, and a rematch was to be held. However, Yoshiyasu from the left side stated that due to his fall, he was in considerable pain and riding would be difficult. Nevertheless, since the match remained undecided and such matters could not be left unresolved, and furthermore, since he had ridden his horse to the starting point again after the fall, it was argued that riding should not be impossible. Despite this appeal, he maintained that riding was absolutely impossible. When it was suggested that a substitute rider could be appointed, this matter was referred to the shrine authorities, but the response was that riding would be difficult without the personal dedication (ichibun no nyūkon) of the original participant.
Since the kajika also responded that appointing a substitute would be acceptable under special circumstances, it was considered that continuing would cause delays and complications, so it would be better to settle the matter through kyoi-make (default loss). However, such direction from the kajika would be difficult, and the kajika expressed complete dissatisfaction (fuzombun) with this arrangement. Eventually, the matter was resolved with a default loss, allowing only Narifumi (the right side winner) to complete his ride. However, the default conducted without proper cap adjustment, without releasing the horse's bit, and particularly with the horse facing south, involved various irregular procedures that should not serve as precedent for future cases.
