現代語訳
以下皆このようである。先例では両度とも膝を立てたまま勤めることである。
この件について、天明四年五月元日に神主保麗が「神主への
組み合わせの時は膝を直して御意を得るべき」と違乱を申したと
いうものの、古来より相伝の趣旨はこのようであると相答えて済んだ
件である。保永はその趣旨を受けて改めるために、このように
勤めているのであろうか。心得るべき件である。

一 今日所司代堀田相模守殿が御出であるが、御服喪中である。
御桟敷は例年目付桟敷の場所を兼ねている。あちらから

Regarding this matter, on New Year's Day of Tenmei 4th year, Head Priest Yasuyoshi said to the head priest,
"When pairing, one should straighten the knee to receive your approval," claiming this was a deviation,
but it was answered that the tradition from ancient times has always been thus, and the matter was settled.
Perhaps Yasunaga, having received this instruction, performs in this manner
in order to reform the practice. This should be understood.
