現代語訳
一条様より御使者が参り、老若がいて競馬の役に従わされた。ただし越前守は留守のため、内房へ晦日の時分に礼儀を行えば差し替えを申すと言われたが、内房が同心しなかったため、差し詰めて申された。そうであるから乗る人といい、差す人といい、前代未聞の間のことである。

英語訳
A messenger came from Lord Ichijō, and there were elders and young people who were made to participate in the horse racing duties. However, since Echizen-no-kami was away, it was said that if proper etiquette could be performed at the inner quarters around the end of the month, a substitution would be arranged, but since the inner quarters did not consent, the matter was pressed urgently. Therefore, both in terms of who rides and who designates riders, this was an unprecedented situation.
