右の七番の左、内蔵允為直の初乗りである。左馬允利直の代わりに乗せられた。九番の左、主馬助順直は内蔵允の兄弟である。
《割書：初乗りの時、古来兄弟は乗らないこと》【朱書】
初乗りの時に兄弟が乗らないことは古来の例である。
しかし順直は四月二十八日に江戸より上られ、急に乗せられることになった。失念で殊の外非例である。今後例に用いるべきではないとのことである。
寛永十四年
この年、細川三斎の御馬が出る。強馬であるとの沙汰があった。
しかしながら一段と無事な馬である。朔日には宮内大輔が乗られ、
五日には千松大夫（保祐）が乗られた。土田に立つ。五日には二番の左に上る。
寛永十五年

《割書：二人飛び越えるようであるが、双方へ引き分ければ一人が越える》

乗尻のうち二人が越えることが初めてあったとの取り沙汰である。しかし
知らない人の言うことである。双方へ引き分ければ二人が越える道理はない。

The left side of the seventh match above was Kura-no-jo Tamenao's first ride. He rode in place of Sama-no-jo Toshinao. The left side of the ninth match, Shume-no-suke Naonao, was the brother of Kura-no-jo.
《Marginal note: At the time of first riding, brothers have not ridden since ancient times》【Red ink】
It has been the ancient custom that brothers do not ride at the time of first riding.
However, Naonao came up from Edo on the 28th day of the 4th month and was suddenly made to ride. This was an oversight and extremely irregular. It should not be used as precedent in the future.
Kan'ei 14th year (1637)
This year, the horse of Hosokawa Sansai appeared. There was talk that it was a strong horse.
However, it was an exceptionally docile horse. On the 1st day, Kunai-no-taiyu rode it,
and on the 5th day, Senmatsu-no-taiyu (Yasusuke) rode it. It stood in the dirt field. On the 5th day, it went up to the left of the second match.

Fourth match

There is talk that for the first time, two of the riders crossed over. However,
this is what ignorant people say. If both sides are drawn apart, there is no reason for two people to cross over.
