清茂が重村記を按ずるに曰く「慶安四年四月二十日大樹家光公が御他界され、これにより五月朔日・五日両日の競馬のことについて、先例があるなら延引すべき旨を板倉周防守許より社家に申し渡されたが、先例がないので、この旨を訴えたところ、四月三十日に至るまで御決判がなかった。伝聞するに周防守より二条殿家へ旧記所見の趣を尋ね問われたので、則ち将軍家御他界の時の神祭等が執行された先例

Regarding the horse racing scheduled for the 1st and 5th days of the 5th month, word came from Itakura Suō-no-kami that if there were precedents, it should be postponed. However, since there were no precedents, when this matter was appealed, no decision was rendered until the 30th day of the 4th month. It was heard that Suō-no-kami inquired of the Nijō-dono household about what was found in old records, regarding precedents for conducting divine festivals when the Shōgun passed away.
