rode. This was because they were of the same rank. 《Marginal note: Regarding the replacement due to overlapping seating arrangements of the kenshū and kishū groups》【Red ink】 Among this year's riders, there were three from the kenshū group and four from the kishū group, and because their seating arrangements overlapped, a messenger was sent from the seating group to their faction requesting replacements. Although there were various arguments between the faction and the seating group, because there was ancient precedent, the faction's arguments were not decisive. Among the kenshū group, Shūken was removed and replaced with Kiyo (third race, left), and among the kishū group, Suehiro was removed and replaced with Yasumune (third race, right), so the seating order was well resolved. Also, this year 《Marginal note: Since Ujinori was not first-generation, following ancient law, administrator Sueyoshi rode》【Red ink】 because Uemon-no-jō Ujinori was not first-generation, although there were repeated meetings, since there was no suitable person, when it was pointed out that there was an ancient law that in such times the administrator should ride as a substitute, Sueyoshi was determined to ride. This is recorded as an example for future generations. 《Marginal note: As stated in the postscript》 The above was recorded by my late father Yoshinao until Meireki 1. However, he died of illness on the 21st day of the 11th month of that year. I also continued in his footsteps (I am Takanao, Yoshinao's eldest son), and from Meireki 2 onward, I copied this from the original text held by Shuzen-no-jō Sueyoshi.
