現代語訳
三番 左 但馬守清玄
右 兵部丞保木《割書：晏負｜落馬失気》
このような替馬であった。その時清玄以下が使いを立てて馬所へ遣わした。
神主矩文が答えるには「この件について代官衆へ無理を言って直接馬所の使者を余に送るのは無例である」ともっともな理由で答えた。保木以上が使いを立てて代官中にその旨を「このようである」と言って馬所へ理を述べた。
答えは「もっともである」ということであった。
五番 左 主税助保台
右 民部少輔永顕《割書：右少遅背負準吉》
この番の馬は去勢馬であってもこうりが不足しているため竜首に合わない。しかし着座下知により準吉とした。
十番 左 左京進兼命
右 民部丞（保意初代）季心
《割書：負けと思い自ら下がって階下に就いて下知により負けでないこと》【朱書】
左が遅れて負けと見えたため、二鳥居にて自ら下がった。しかし階下に就いて下知により準吉とした。
万治三年
七番 左 兵庫允兼寛《割書：埒内において落馬したため負け》
右 豊前介水直《割書：まだ落馬せず同評により飛び乗り｜殊に正忌三日であり浄衣着用を請う》
英語訳
Third Race: Left - Tajima-no-kami Seigen
Right - Hyōbu-no-jō Yasuki 《Marginal note: Late defeat | fell from horse and lost consciousness》
Such were the substitute horses. At that time, Seigen and those below sent a messenger to the horse office.
Head Priest Norifumi replied: "Regarding this matter, sending a messenger from the horse office directly to me without going through the deputy officials is unprecedented" - a most reasonable response. Yasuki and those above sent a messenger to inform the deputies "the situation is thus" and presented their case to the horse office.
The reply was "most reasonable."
Fifth Race: Left - Shuzei-no-suke Yasudai
Right - Minbu-no-shōyū Nagaaki 《Marginal note: Right slightly late, carrying defeat, deemed adequate》
The horse in this race was a gelding, but due to insufficient vigor, it did not match the dragon head. However, by decree of the seating arrangement, it was deemed adequate.
Tenth Race: Left - Sakyō-no-shin Kanemoto
Right - Minbu-no-jō (Yasui's first generation) Suekokoro
《Marginal note: Thinking it was a defeat, withdrew on his own to below the stairs, but by decree it was not a defeat》【Red ink】
The left appeared to be defeated due to delay, so he withdrew on his own at the second torii. However, having gone to below the stairs, by decree it was deemed adequate.
