その由を申し入れた。さて四日の夜に階下が来臨し、忌火屋にて当式の
定めについて相談した旨は、三番までは三登目に出馬し、残り七匹は三遅
あるいは巴にて出馬すべしとの堅い約束である。もし違約者があれば直入すべしである。あるいは
《割書：古法に違う時は負けとする事｜》
また古法の旨に違いがある者は必ず負けとすべき者である。よくよく慎むべき
ことである旨、時に乗尻中が堅く応じ終わった。仍って内々乗尻中のために
馬出しの肝煎衆三人を兼ね頼んだ。先ずは信濃守季
芳、他人大夫氏書、吉三郎氏である。この外に喜顕、弘和氏、
寛氏、行某などへも兼ね頼んだ。去れども人々に断りがあり、種々もっともということで
措き置いた。当年の神馬の勤役は最も少なく違いのない様子である云々

初めて馬場が広くなって長さ四町余りになった。右の馬上の
御田を数間越えて北方の樹木の端まで延び、東方へまた
数間駆けてすぐ留まった。近年の強い早馬である。乗尻も達
者である。後で聞いたところでは、大岩の辺りに六人の下人が大綱を引き馬に
掛けて留めようとした時、六人の下人を引き倒して駆けること右の如しという云々

Then on the evening of the fourth day, those of lower rank came to the sacred fire hut, and the consultation regarding the current ceremonies' regulations was as follows: up to the third bout, horses should enter at the third ascent, and the remaining seven horses should enter either at the third delay or with the tomoe pattern - this was a firm promise. If there were any violators of the agreement, they should be subject to direct entry. Or

also, those who violate the purport of ancient law must necessarily be deemed defeated. This should be carefully observed, and at that time the riding attendants firmly agreed to this. Therefore, privately for the riding attendants, three supervisors for horse entry were additionally requested. First were Shinano-no-kami Kiyoshi, another Taifu Ujigaki, and Kichisaburō-uji. In addition, Kiken, Hirokazu-uji, Kan-uji, Yuki-[someone], and others were also additionally requested. However, since various people had their reasons for declining, all quite reasonable, this was set aside. This year's divine horse service appeared to have the fewest irregularities, and so on.

The Shidori horse is provided every year by the Kyoto Deputy as the Shogun's representative.
This year it was a large black horse provided by Lord Nagai Iga-no-kami. This year

for the first time the riding ground was expanded to over four chō in length. The horse above
crossed several ken over the sacred rice field to the edge of the trees to the north, then galloped
several more ken to the east and immediately stopped. It was a strong swift horse of recent years. The rider was also
skilled. Later it was heard that near the large rock, six servants with a large rope
tried to restrain the horse, but the horse knocked down all six servants and galloped as described above, and so on.
