一切不可有急度御嗜尤候由殊神事手延ナル
モ不可然候唯早速無事之質可然之由也仍而
自二匹シテ大形埒内ニ乱三馬也去トモ七番ノ左馬入埒
并馳可出之隙甚難進シテ良及半時右馬出ル左
馬モ一二間継之体計ニ而立シテ居負也其以後ハ少々
懸隙タリ内九々又少急也扨明ル六日依公意而社
家中不残出頭也

少なくない故に五月四日の暮れに社中から御宿直へ
職価が言うには「当年の騒動責めはこの通りである。それならば今度の競馬会では
勝つべからざる者を勝ちとし、また負ける間の人を負けとも口論は
一切あってはならず、急度御慎みが最もであります。殊に神事が手延べになる
のも然るべきではありません。ただ早速無事の本質が然るべき」とのことである。仍って
二匹から大体埒内で乱れ三馬である。されども七番の左馬が入埒
並びに馳せ出すべき隙が甚だ進み難く、良い頃に半時に及んで右馬が出る。左
馬も一二間継ぐ体だけにて立って居負である。その以後は少々
懸け隙があり、内九々でまた少し急である。さて明ける六日に公意により社
家中残らず出頭である。

The disturbance was considerable, so on the evening of May 4th, from the shrine to the night duty officer,
the official said: "This year's commotion and blame is as such. If so, then in this horse race meet,
those who should not win shall be made to win, and those who should lose shall not be argued about as losers -
there must be no quarrels at all, and strict restraint is most appropriate. Especially, delaying the sacred ritual
would not be proper. Simply, the essence of swift and peaceful resolution would be best." Therefore,
starting with two horses, there was generally disorder of three horses within the barriers. However, the left horse of the seventh bout's entry into the barriers
and the opportunity to gallop out was very difficult to advance, and after about half an hour the right horse emerged. The left
horse also stood with only the appearance of continuing one or two ken and remained in defeat. After that there were some
brief intervals, and within the nine-nine it was again somewhat urgent. Then on the dawning 6th day, by imperial will, all
shrine family members appeared.

Kiyoshige says: "At this time, Shimotsuke-no-kami Ujitora and Mokku-no-kami Nagakiyo, both were banished,

The diary of Seirei from January 5th, Kanbun 13th year states: "Regarding the matter of horses for the Torii Ōji house horse races,
due to lack of resources, a lawsuit was brought to the shrine, and

this year they were presented to the shrine. Therefore, horses should be
tied up to the Nara shrine ritual positions. Under these circumstances, horse fees will be equivalent to others," etc.
