中兼頼申之処《割書：右京進保匡雖為八番左之乗尻断｜依有之自八番衆俄ニ兼頼氏僚被出》
《割書：故也｜》異乱出来気毒存候然者此儀穏便ニ可致
差置候哉又可被遂吟味候哉否承度存之
旨也返答云委細承届候此義最前被申達
于乗尻中并階下等之許之処猶以被遂吟味
可被達于一社中旨候由及返答云々
七日晴今日自氏僚被指出口状書於初乗中

口上之覚
今度五日之競馬馬所正祢宜之馬ニ而私負申候
ニ付階下之前ニ而馬主六兵衛散々悪口申候諸
人聞私堪忍も難成存知候得共大事之御神事
与存知無是非罷帰申処ニ山本町之角ニ而大
勢待受又悪口申掛取巻段々申故迷惑仕鞭
ニ而払申候得ハ鞭ニ取付散々打擲仕冠を打

路中、市原芝《割書：毘沙門堂の｜後》、幡枝の芝《割書：八幡石鳥｜居の前》、御泥
池《割書：池側で｜》、太田芝等において例の通り祝儀の献上があり、事が終わって各々
万歳を祝して退散した。
今日、八番衆中から若役《割書：出羽守｜致直》を通じて志摩守
季晃の許《割書：季晃は｜氏僚の姉の婿である》に申し入れがあった。その趣旨は、氏僚の件について今度八番衆
中から兼頼を申したところ《割書：右京進保匡は八番左の乗尻であるが辞退｜があったため、八番衆から急に氏僚に兼頼の依頼が出された》
《割書：ためである｜》、異乱が起こって気の毒に思っている。そうであるなら、この件を穏便に
差し置くべきか、それとも吟味を遂げるべきか、承りたく存じます」
とのことであった。返答は「詳細を承りました。この件は最初に
乗尻中並びに階下等の許に申し達されたところですが、なお吟味を遂げて
一社中に達せられるべき」旨であると返答したということである。
七日 晴 今日、氏僚から初乗中
《割書：保玄、成貞｜兼精》の許に口状書が指し出された。
口上の覚
今度五日の競馬で、馬所正祢宜の馬で私が負けました
ことについて、階下の前で馬主六兵衛がひどい悪口を申しました。諸
人が聞く中、私も堪忍も難しいと存じましたが、大事な御神事
であると存じ、やむを得ず帰りましたところ、山本町の角で大
勢が待ち受けており、また悪口を申し掛けて取り囲み、段々と申すので迷惑し、鞭
で払いましたところ、鞭に取り付いてひどく打擲し、冠を打ち

pond《marginal note: at poolside｜}}, Ōta-shiba and other places, there were celebratory offerings as usual, and after the ceremonies concluded, everyone
celebrated with "banzai" and dispersed.
Today, from the eighth group, through a junior official《marginal note: Dewa-no-kami｜Naonao》, a petition was made to Shima-no-kami
Sueteru《marginal note: Sueteru is｜the brother-in-law of Ujiryo's sister}}. The content was that regarding Ujiryo's matter, this time from the eighth group
they had requested Kanerui's services《marginal note: Although Ukyō-shin Yasumasa was a left horseman of the eighth group, he declined｜so the eighth group suddenly requested Ujiryo to serve as Kanerui}}
{{marginal note: for this reason｜}}, and a disturbance occurred, which they found regrettable. Therefore, should this matter be settled quietly,
or should an investigation be conducted? They wished to know the decision."
The response was: "I have received the details. This matter was initially reported
to the horsemen and those below the steps, but it should still be investigated and
reported to the entire shrine community." This was the response given.
Seventh day, Clear weather. Today, Ujiryo submitted a written statement to the first riders

Memorandum of Statement
Regarding the recent horse race on the fifth day, when I lost
while riding the horse of the chief negi of the horse grounds,
the horse owner Rokubei spoke terrible insults in front of those below the steps. With various
people listening, I thought I could hardly bear it, but considering it was an important sacred ritual,
I thought it unavoidable and was returning home when, at the corner of Yamamoto-chō, a large
crowd was waiting and again hurled insults, surrounding me and continuing to speak, so in distress I tried to clear them away with my whip,
whereupon they grabbed the whip and beat me severely, striking my court cap
