右持参之処紀伊守事忌中ニ候服とハ様子可
替候哉如何之由被尋問之間服忌中共ニ同様

宛先なし
右を持参したところ、紀伊守のことについて忌中であるが、服喪とは様子が
変わるであろうか、いかがかと尋ね問われたので、服喪・忌中ともに同様
であると申したため、件の書付を認め改めて《忌中も同様である旨》差し
上げた。ただし両町奉行の安藤駿河守・中根摂津守の
御両所へも右の子細をお届け申し入れたとのことである。
同二十七日、町奉行中根摂津守の許から賀茂社家
総代を招きに依り、即刻参上したところ、尋ねられる条々を書付で
渡されたのは左の通りである。
覚
一、来る五月朔日の足揃え、同五日の競馬、右警固について紀伊守様
から御家来並びに御組が罷り出る儀、潔斎を仰せ付けられれば
差し支えない由
未だ地穢れがあるであろうが差し支えないか
一、飾馬は例年明二十八日から賀茂川にて清めを仰せ付けられる

一、土屋相模守様・稲葉丹後守様・五味備前守様の御
服中に警固を指し出された由、先例があるとの由

When the above was brought, it was asked whether there would be a difference in procedure between the mourning period (kichu) and the formal mourning (fuku) for Kii-no-kami. We replied that both formal mourning and mourning period should be treated the same way, so we revised the aforementioned document《stating that the mourning period should be treated the same》and submitted it. However, the same details were also reported to both magistrates, Andō Suruga-no-kami and Nakane Settsu-no-kami.
On the same 27th day, summoned by the magistrate Nakane Settsu-no-kami, the Kamo shrine family representative immediately went to him, where various questions were asked and handed over in writing as follows:
Memorandum
1. Regarding the horse inspection on the 1st day of the coming 5th month and the horse racing on the 5th day of the same month, and the guards for these events: if purification is ordered for Kii-no-kami's retainers and organized groups who will participate, there will be no problem.
Although there may still be earth defilement, would this be acceptable?
1. Decorated horses are traditionally purified in the Kamo River starting from the 28th day (of the 4th month) each year by order.
