He submitted an apology, but was graciously told to take care of his health and continue his duties, and was not granted leave.
First, in the 7th year of Enpō, 10th month (1678): As requested, he was relieved of his official duties.
First, in the 1st year of Tenna, 9th month (1681): As requested, his son Seizaemon was appointed as his substitute for guard duty.
First, in the 2nd year of Jōkyō, 9th month (1685): As requested, he was permitted to retire.
First, in the 2nd year of Genroku, 5th month, 3rd day (1689): He died of illness at the age of seventy-one. Buddhist name: Shinan Ryōmu. Burial place: Hōunyama Dairyūji Temple.
