右の女たちは越前宰相（忠昌公）の家臣笹治大膳の子右近が江戸に
証人として差し上がるため付き添って遣わすものである。以下は召使いの者で
あるので、御役所において相違なくお通しいただくよう頼み奉ります。よって件の如し

公方様が御不例のところ、諸大名が御機嫌を伺うための参府を御停止
の旨を仰せ出されたけれども、なお御機嫌を御伺いしたく
思し召され神奈川駅まで御出になったところ、品川に新関ができ御目付が
出張しているとお聞きになり、同駅から御船で浅草御屋敷に
御着になり直ちに御老中まで御使者を以て「今度
公方様が御不例のところ参府を御指留めになったけれども、御心許なく
思し召しにより御様体を御伺いしたく、押して御出府になった」段を御達し

While the Shogun was indisposed, an order was issued to suspend the attendance at court by various daimyo to inquire about his condition. However, still wishing to inquire about his condition, [Lord Tadamasa] went as far as Kanagawa station. There he learned that a new checkpoint had been established at Shinagawa with inspectors stationed there. From that station he took a boat to his Asakusa residence and immediately sent a messenger to the rōjū (senior councilors) reporting that "although attendance at court has been suspended due to the Shogun's indisposition, being unable to rest easy, he wished to inquire about his condition and thus proceeded to Edo."
