川筋の付近は所々水損があった様子でございます。
また八朔（八月一日）の登城も、国許の外様大名は損害のため皆登城せず、下馬も誠に淋しく見えました。その他尾張・紀伊御両家並びに播磨大学・大炊様も御登城なさらず、御譜代衆の内にも登城しない者があったとのことでございます。去る二十四日、外国人六百三十人が品川に上陸した模様でございます。
外国奉行水野筑後守は先日熱湯を異人にかけたとのことでございましたが、この度切腹いたした趣でございます。実に心中察するべき事でございます。去る二十八日夜、横浜にて外国人が切られたとのこと、内実は水野筑後守の家来の仕業であろうとの説があります。この間、外国人三人で買物に出かけた所、品川辺りで七八歳の子供百人ほどが群集し、石を投げ、外国人二人に余程の怪我をさせ、死生にも関わるほどの状態になったとのことです。この子供百人ほどが群集したことは全く人力ではあるまい、神業であろうかなどと市中では話されております。

Also, regarding the court attendance on Hassaku (August 1st), the outer lords (tozama daimyo) from the provinces all failed to attend due to damage, and the dismounting area looked truly desolate. Additionally, both the Owari and Kii houses, as well as Harima Daigaku and Daini-sama, did not attend court, and it is said that even among the hereditary retainers (fudai), there were those who did not attend. On the 24th, it appears that 630 foreigners landed at Shinagawa.
Foreign Magistrate Mizuno Chikugo-no-kami had previously thrown hot water at foreigners, and it appears he has now committed seppuku. This is truly a matter that calls for sympathy. On the night of the 28th, foreigners were attacked in Yokohama, and there are theories that this was actually the work of Mizuno Chikugo-no-kami's retainers. Recently, when three foreigners went out shopping, about a hundred children aged seven or eight gathered near Shinagawa and threw stones, seriously injuring two foreigners to the point of life and death. The gathering of about a hundred children was surely not by human design but perhaps divine intervention, according to rumors in the city.
