子（妻子）はこれを見たけれども、足手まといになる弱い者たちなので、すごすごと船を沖へ出していった。

また言うには、藤室甚吉は十月二十六日の辰の刻（午前8時頃）に島原へやって来たというものの、一人息子の加兵衛は布津村で討たれ、その外の妻子は敵に取り込まれてしまい、生きる甲斐がないと嘆き悲しんだ。

The children (wife and children) witnessed this, but being weak and helpless, they dejectedly sailed the boat out to sea.

It also states that Fujimuro Jinkichi arrived at Shimabara on the 26th day of the 10th month at the hour of the Dragon (around 8 AM), but his only son Kahei had been killed in Futsu village, and his other wife and children had been captured by the enemy, so he lamented that there was no point in living.
