高い棚などに祭ってはいけない。疱瘡病人が食べて
悪い品物を神へ供えてはいけない。神の灯明は昼夜
灯し続けるべきである。神送りは十五日に笹湯をして送るのである。
神がいらっしゃる間は油断することはない。世間で十二日に神を
送るのは間違いである。神を送った後に異変に遭う者が多い。
発疹が出揃ってから十二日で、初発から十五日目である。
肌着の袖を長くする心得について
袖長とは両手を伸ばして三寸ほど指先より長く
ゆったりとするべきである。袖口を細くしてはいけない。手の出し入れが
楽であることが重要である。もし疱瘡病人が眠る時はその袖の

先を紐で結んでおくべきである。無意識に頭や顔に
手を上げて掻くこともあるものである。また一重の紅木綿を
頭に着せておくべきである。水疱の頃にぜひとも障るものである。この
袖長で防ぐべきである。また水疱の頃から両足の間に木
綿の一重襦袢でも隔てに挟んで、足の爪先で
足と足を両方こすって掻き破らないように用心に気を
付けるべきである。必ず手ばかりを気遣いして足には心
づかないものである。

harmful for smallpox patients to eat. The deity's sacred lamp should be kept
lit day and night. The deity is sent away on the fifteenth day with bamboo grass bath.
While the deity is present, one should not be negligent. It is a mistake for people to
send away the deity on the twelfth day. Many people encounter complications after sending away the deity prematurely.
It is twelve days from when the eruptions appear fully, which is the fifteenth day from the initial onset.
Regarding making the sleeves of undergarments long
Long sleeves means that when both hands are extended, the sleeves should be about three sun longer
than the fingertips, loose and comfortable. The sleeve openings should not be narrow. It is important that
hands can be easily put in and taken out. If the smallpox patient sleeps, the ends of those sleeves

should be tied with cord. Unconsciously, they may raise their
hands to their head or face and scratch. Also, a single layer of red cotton should be
placed on the head. This is absolutely necessary during the vesicular stage. This
long-sleeve method should be used for prevention. Also, from the vesicular stage onward, cotton
single-layer undergarments should be placed as a barrier between both legs, so that the toenails
do not cause both feet to rub against each other and scratch open the lesions. One must be careful about this.
People always worry only about the hands and pay no attention to the feet.

Vinegar, sake, noodles, rice cake products, generally anything oily, fish in meals
