その他臭いもの辛いもの菓子類生ものや冷たいものいずれも
忌み嫌うべきである。世間では疱瘡神の好むものなどと言って
食べさせ大いに失敗することがしばしば多い。
疱瘡患者の居間への禁忌心得について
疱瘡患者のいる部屋へは決して見慣れない人が出入りし大声で
ものを言って疱瘡患者を驚かせてはならない。また匂いを
忌むべきである。懐中の匂い袋、梅花香油、成人の
疱瘡患者ならば房事をかたく慎むべきである。腋臭のある人の出入りを忌む。
出家・比丘尼の出入りを忌む。便所の匂いまた女性の月経時の

障りを忌む。髪の毛を火に入れて焼かないよう心得るべきである。病気の
始まりから一室より外へ連れ出してはならない。小児などはよく
癖になるものゆえにその心得が第一である。疱瘡はものに感化され
やすいものゆえに紅絹を屏風にかけておくべきである。また季節の
寒暖に従い衣装を程よく暖め、過ごして汗を出しては
ならない。
初期症状三日間の良し悪しの心得について
外感（風邪）によって起これば水っぱなや咳が出るものである。或いは
食べ過ぎの熱から起こり、また驚くことがあって初期熱と
なる。しかるに初期症状の熱が激しいものはかえって疱瘡が多く

should be avoided. Care should be taken not to burn hair in fire. From the beginning of the illness,
the patient should not be taken outside of one room. Especially with small children, this easily
becomes a habit, so this precaution is of primary importance. Since smallpox is easily
influenced by external factors, red silk should be hung on folding screens. Also, according to the seasonal
temperature, clothing should be appropriately warmed, but not so much as to cause
sweating.
Regarding recognizing good and bad signs during the three days of initial symptoms
If caused by external cold (catching cold), runny nose and cough will appear. Or it may
arise from fever due to overeating, or become initial fever when there is
