食事は食べられないものである。疱瘡は始めから終わりまで胃の気を根
本とする。重症といえども、ただ箸が止まらないことを吉として
耐え忍び通すべきである。生まれつき肝の気が高ぶるものは発熱時に
目を見つめることがあっても驚いてはならない。必ずその後は穏
やかになるものである。うわごとが多く人の見分けさえつかないものは
難症である。また大きな悪性は初期症状の時、頭や顔だけが火で
焼かれるかのように赤く、紅をさしたようである。紙燭で見れば肉
と皮との間にところどころ紅が固まって動かないものが見える。
さて熱が強く唇が紫黒く見える。もっとも声も出ることなく

雁が鳴くようであるのは大悪痘である。ただ一概には論じがたい。
嘔吐下痢でまた腹が痛むものは食滞による冷えの気と、また疱瘡の毒火に
よるものとの二つがある。その内、初期熱の下痢は急には止め
難い。嘔吐するものは疱瘡の毒火が上へ向かう故に重症である。とにかく嘔吐を
治すべきである。冷えによって下るのを止めなければ疱瘡が出浮かばない
ものである。大便が数日間出ない時は少し通じさせるべきである。疱瘡の毒火
によって腹が痛めば腰にかけて痛むのである。これは必ず重症である。発熱
の時汗が出るものは気が和らいでいて甚だ良い症状である。出血症状は悪い。
発熱時に鼻血が出るのは治すべきである。心配することはない。

When the fever is strong and lips appear purple-black, and especially when no voice can be produced,

making sounds like a wild goose crying, this is greatly malignant pox. However, this cannot be judged categorically.
Vomiting and diarrhea with abdominal pain has two causes: food stagnation with cold qi, and toxin-fire of smallpox.
Among these, diarrhea during initial fever is difficult to stop
quickly. Vomiting is serious because the toxin-fire of smallpox moves upward. In any case, vomiting should be
treated. If diarrhea caused by cold is not stopped, the smallpox lesions will not emerge properly.
When bowel movements cease for several days, some movement should be facilitated. When smallpox toxin-fire
causes abdominal pain, it extends to the lower back. This is necessarily serious. During fever,
sweating indicates harmonized qi and is an extremely good symptom. Bleeding symptoms are bad.
Nosebleeds during fever should be treated. There is no need to worry.
