表面に山上げの熱があるはずである。しかしながらこのようなものは良い疱瘡であって、ことごとく膿となって肌の表面に出て開けば、内部が涼しくなるので食事が進み、自然に美しく乾燥して治るのである。悪い疱瘡はまず咽まで疱瘡が出て、食事も母乳も通りにくく、毒気が肺臓の気道に迫って表面へ出にくく、渇きが強く声が枯れて出ず、口の息が一面に固まりとなってもだえ苦しみ、どれほどの名薬でも効きにくい。毒気が膿をなして表面へ現れず、急に閉じて変化をなすのである。この関門は十日から十一日にあるはずである。疱瘡の生死は膿の有無によって決定される。またすでに山を上げるものに

内托の薬を用いて過ごすべきではない。薬気なく自然に乾燥するのを待つのがよい。ただし膿貫通の時は皆腫れによって痛むものであるが、厳しく痛んで堪えがたいほどならば悪い。あるいはこの時に顔や目の腫れが早く引けば、かさぶたが落ちた後まで地腫れがあって段々に引くのをよしとする。また疱瘡が大体において山を上げて俄かに深い咳が出て、吐き気が強く渇きがあって腹を下し、甚だ危険なものがある。この時の五臓の内、身体の真気が皆表面に現れて内証に俄かに虚して、このような変化を現すのである。必ず驚くことはない。ただよく看病人が見届けて良医に任せて人参などを用いて
