現代語訳
見当たらず。今度流行したことから、疱瘡について民家の心得となるべき事を師に請い得て、疱瘡患者の介抱の仕方を平仮名で書き集め、附録には麻疹・水痘（へいない）の事までを記し、版木に刻んで広く世の人々や女中方まで、常々見置いていただけば心得にもなるだろうと願うのみである。

From this recent epidemic, I have obtained from my teacher what should serve as guidance for ordinary households regarding smallpox, and have compiled in hiragana the methods of caring for smallpox patients. In the appendix, I have recorded even matters concerning measles and chickenpox (heinai), carved this into printing blocks, and hope that if people throughout the world, including maidservants, would regularly keep this at hand, it might serve as useful guidance.
