疱瘡（ほうさう）日本（にほん）へ始（はじめ）て渡（わたり）し事（こと）
我国（わがくに）は元（もと）より神国（しんこく）にしてあやしき病（やまひ）もなく穏（おだや）かなり
しに聖武天皇（せうむてんわう）天平（てんへい）八年に疱瘡（ほうさう）はじめて渡（わた）り時行（はやり）
来（きた）る此時（このとき）夏（なつ）より冬（ふゆ）に至（いた）りて死（し）に及（およ）ぶもの多（おゝ）かりし
尤（もつとも）是（これ）までなき事（こと）ゆへに療治（りやうじ）又は病家（びやうか）介抱（かいほう）のしかたも

我が国は元来神国であって、怪しい病気もなく穏やかであったのに、聖武天皇の天平八年に疱瘡が初めて渡来し流行した。この時、夏から冬に至って死に至る者が多かった。もっとも、これまでにない事なので、治療法や病家での介抱の仕方も不慣れであったと見える。これは五臓の真気を動かし、時気（疫気）に感ずる所がこの病気をなすのである。この病気が流行する時は、恐れない人はいない。病気の初めは傷寒に似ており、その種類は様々ある。軽い症状であれば薬を飲み
