正次の父を本多半右衛門と申す。本多豊後守の枢要な者で、
半右衛門の妻は 権現様（徳川家康）に御奉公を勤めていたので、半右衛門も
五郎右衛門も御存じであらせられ、父子共に 御目見えも仕ったという。その後
秀康公に召し出された。 権現様 台徳院様 大猷院様も
御存じであらせられる筋目があり、 忠昌公の御代の節には 上意での御尋ねもあった
と承り伝えている。大坂の陣の節には出羽守直政公にお付けされてお供を仕った
とのことである。 忠直公 忠昌公 光通公の御代まで勤仕した。
光通公の御代、寛文四年甲辰の年に家督を下された

● Honda Gorōemon Masatsugu <<home country Mikawa, birth country Mutsu, surname Fujiwara>>
Masatsugu's father was called Honda Han'emon, a key retainer of Honda Bungo-no-kami.
Han'emon's wife served Gongen-sama (Tokugawa Ieyasu), so both Han'emon and
Gorōemon were known to him, and both father and son had audiences with him. Later
he was summoned by Lord Hideyasu. Gongen-sama, Taitokuin-sama, and Daiyūin-sama all
knew of his lineage, and during Lord Tadamasa's reign there were even inquiries by superior order,
as has been passed down. During the Osaka campaigns, he was attached to Dewa-no-kami Lord Naomasa and served
as his attendant. He served through the reigns of Lord Tadanao, Lord Tadamasa, and Lord Mitsumichi.
During Lord Mitsumichi's reign, in the 4th year of Kanbun, year of the wood dragon, granted family headship
