【右丁】
村という所へお供をし、秀康公がお生まれになって幼少の間は作左
衛門の家でお育ちになったということである。その後秀吉公の養子分として
京都へお越しになった際、作左衛門もお供を仰せ付けられて参った。
重次の子である飛騨守成重も十二歳で権現様に召し出され、
秀康公が京都へお越しになった時分にお供をして参った。秀吉公がお亡くなりになった後、
重次は御旗本に召し返された。その際、秀康公が結城の御城に
いらっしゃった時に御機嫌伺いとして参上したところ、御懇意の御意向で
父作左衛門のことを仰せ出され、「幼少の時分の御指導のために
権現様から御拝領になった来国光の御小脇差を下し置く」ということであった。この
御小脇差を民部重方が御家に召し出された際に、右の趣旨を申し
聞かせ、成重から重方に譲り渡し、今に至るまで持ち伝えている。成重は
忠直公御代の慶長十八年に知行四万石を下され、丸岡城主を仰せ
付けられ御家老職を相勤めた。大坂の陣の時は忠直公の先手を務め、天王
寺表の惣構の堀の柵を引き破って塀の下に取り付いた。城中から撃ってくる
鉄砲により家来十六騎が手負い、百六十人、旗竿や馬印も打ち折られた。

飛騨守も兜の左の脇と胴の端を鉄砲で撃たれた。翌
年夏の陣では天王寺表に一番に駆かり、首数二百七十三を討ち取り、大手門の
脇を打ち破って一番に乗り込み、左の頬に矢を射かけられた。その際
家来五人が討死を遂げ、手負い七人があった。敵の首級二十八を討ち
取った。本城の門まで乗り込み、所々に火を放った。その他壮年の
時に各所での働きは多くあるが、大概は以上の通りである。忠直公の御左遷の
後、成重は御旗本に召し返された。

village as an escort. When Lord Hideyasu was born and during his childhood, he was
raised in Sakuzaemon's household. Later, when he went to Kyoto as an adopted son of Lord Hideyoshi,
Sakuzaemon was also ordered to accompany him.
Shigetsugu's son, Hida-no-kami Narishige, was also summoned by Gongen-sama at age twelve,
and accompanied Lord Hideyasu when he went to Kyoto. After Lord Hideyoshi's death,
Shigetsugu was recalled to the Hatamoto (direct retainers of the shogun). At that time, when Lord Hideyasu was residing
at Yūki Castle, he came to pay his respects, and due to gracious consideration,
Lord Hideyasu spoke of his father Sakuzaemon, saying "As a reward for his guidance during my childhood,
I bestow this small wakizashi by Rai Kunimitsu that I received from Gongen-sama." This
small wakizashi was explained to Minbu Shigeyoshi when he was summoned to serve the house,
and it was passed from Narishige to Shigeyoshi, and has been handed down to this day. Narishige
was granted a fief of 40,000 koku in Keichō 18 during Lord Tadanao's reign, was appointed
lord of Maruoka Castle and served as chief retainer. During the Osaka campaigns, he served as Lord Tadanao's vanguard at
Tennōji, breaking through the stockades of the outer fortifications and attacking the base of the walls. From gunfire from within the castle,
sixteen mounted retainers were wounded, along with 160 men, and flag poles and horse insignia were also shot and broken.

Hida-no-kami was also shot by muskets on the left side of his helmet and the edge of his body armor. In the following
year's summer campaign, he charged first at Tennōji, took 273 heads, broke through the side
of the main gate and was first to storm in, receiving an arrow to his left cheek. At that time,
five retainers were killed in action and seven were wounded. Twenty-eight enemy heads were taken.
He stormed up to the gates of the main castle and set fires in various places. There were many other
distinguished services in various places during his prime years, but these are the main ones. After Lord Tadanao's exile,
Narishige was recalled to the Hatamoto.
