九郎左衛門方ニ忍候テ罷有其後京都エ罷出謡ノ指南並
躾方ノ儀等ヲ心得候ニ付其節 秀康公未於義丸様ト申
候テ秀吉公ノ御養子ト御成京都ニ御座之節御謡ノ指南

往古、長谷部長兵衛尉信連の末裔であると申し伝えられているが、相続の次第は
分からない。永禄の頃、朝倉義景方に仕えていた時、思いがけない喧嘩をして
相手を討ち留め、能登国へ立ち退いた。先祖同姓の由緒があるということで長
九郎左衛門方に身を隠していた。その後京都へ出て、謡の指南並びに
躾方のことなどを心得ていたため、その節、秀康公がまだ於義丸様と申し
上げていた頃、秀吉公の御養子となられて京都におられた際、御謡の指南を
申し上げ御出入りしていたところ、天正十二、三年（1584-1585年）の頃、権現様が御上洛され、
秀吉公、秀康公御三人が御同座にて采女を御前へ召し
出され、於義丸様の御行儀が御長く御満足に思し召されるということで、
御褒美として権現様より備前兼光の御腰物を下され、秀吉公からも
貞宗の御小脇指を下され、その節権現様に召し出されて

It is said that [he] was a descendant of the ancient Hasebe Chōhyōe-no-jō Nobitsura, but the details of succession
are unknown. Around the Eiroku era, while serving under Asakura Yoshikage, [he] got into an unexpected fight,
killed his opponent, and fled to Noto Province. Due to ancestral connections with the same family name, [he]
hid at Chō Kurōzaemon's residence. Later [he] went to Kyoto and learned the arts of Noh instruction and
etiquette. At that time, when Lord Hideyasu was still called Lord Ogimaru and had
become the adopted son of Lord Hideyoshi while residing in Kyoto, [Hasebe] gave instruction in Noh
and had access [to the residence]. Around Tenshō 12-13 (1584-1585), when Gongen-sama made his imperial visit to Kyoto,
