工（たくむ）むやからの無分別（むふんべつ）余命（よめい）はかなき身（み）なれ共
木頭（きかしら）ともちいしは橘（たちはな）のさし図（づ）にて我と望（のそみ）
てなりしにあらずしかるをあれなる銀杏（いてう）を始（はじ）￣メ
木綿（もめん）や桑（くわ）の若芽（わかめ）迄一ッになりて我をうと
み此山中をしりぞけん下心（したこゝろ）ひきやう共きた
なしともいふに岩間（いわま）の岩蓮華（いわれんげ）心斗ははやれ
どもむなしく若木（わかき）の枝葉（しよう）にをされ見る
陰（かげ）もなき谷川の流（なが）れに名（な）のみくだしぬるむね

企むやからの無分別、余命はかなき身なれども、木頭と用いしは橘の差し図にて、我と望んでなりしにあらず。しかるを、あれなる銀杏を始めとして木綿や桑の若芽まで一つになりて我を疎み、この山中を退けん下心、卑怯とも汚いとも言うに、岩間の岩蓮華、心ばかりははやれどもむなしく、若木の枝葉に押され見る影もなき谷川の流れに名のみ流しぬる。無念骨髄、狂言中ばへおこがましく罷出たる長口上、不届きものとのお咎めを顧みざるは、猿若の猿住む箱根の岳々には楮が由縁の若木の松、枝ぶり強きも候えば一本立ての身にてもなし。この度当所権現の神振舞いの新狂言、男達黒木の役割も銀杏ひとりの

Those who scheme are thoughtless - though my remaining life is fleeting, my appointment as tree head was by Tachibana's direction, not something I sought myself. Yet that ginkgo over there and others, even down to the cotton plant and mulberry buds, have all united to shun me, harboring the ulterior motive to drive me from this mountain - whether called cowardly or base. The rock lotus among the rocks, though its heart alone may be eager, is vainly pressed down by the branches and leaves of young trees, its name alone flowing away in the valley stream where not even its shadow can be seen. With resentment to the bone marrow - this long speech presumptuously delivered in the middle of the kyōgen performance, showing no regard for being scolded as an insolent fellow, is because in the peaks of Hakone where Saruwaka's monkeys dwell, there are young pines related to the paper mulberry, and their branches being strong, I am not one standing alone. For this occasion's new kyōgen of the local shrine deity's divine performance, even the role of the gallant Kuroki falls to the ginkgo alone...
