ことさら木綿（もめん）はそのむかしかうぞが世話も
なりたる身 銀杏（いてう）はもちろん大恩（だいおん）あれば
報（ほう）ずべきをあたをもつくしかうぞをうとむ
のふりやうけん桑（くわ）の若芽（わかめ）も葉をたれて
一身なすとは女桑（めくわ）の身にあるまじき下こゝろ
今よりいつれも和談（わだん）なし根（ね）にもつな葉（は）を
ならすな

現代語訳
ことに木綿は、そのかつて楮が世話にもなった身である。銀杏はもちろん大恩があるのだから報いるべきなのに、恩に仇で報い、楮を疎んじるふるまいとは何事か。桑の若芽も葉をたれて一身をなすとは、女桑の身にあるまじき下心である。今よりいずれも和談をなし、根にも綱、葉をならすな。
銀杏の精○橘の仰せられることながら、これには段々意味の深長なる事を分けて申さんなれども、東雲の明け方近く、まず今晩はこれ切りと口上するところへ、樫の木が出て《カチカチカチ》○白雲の幕を引き渡らんとするところへ○東西東西と声をかけて、半分はうつつ、たわい寝言交じえ、うつつに立ち上がる十六兵衛。見物の草木をはじめ、舞台の草木も誉める。
