何がうらみでかうぞどのをにくしむのじや又
葉根元（はねもと）のぜんまいどのがわるいといふものわた
せば随分（ずいぶん）わたさるゝ金があるにかうぞ殿へは
ふつていにみせかけおのづからひかるゝよふに
はかりことをしたのも銀杏（いてう）どのとぐるから
おこり《割書：イカニ｜》かうぞの心よしやわらかな花じや
とてそふわせぬもの面（つら）にくやかねの工面（くめん）も算（さん）
用（よう）ももとがからくりものじやからぜないどのゝ

とのが広言（くわうげん）をならべてじやにいゝわけあらば
いふたがよい一言（いちごん）も出（で）ぬといふはみんな木（こ）の葉（は）

現代語訳
何が恨みで楮殿を憎しむのじゃ。また葉根元の薇殿が悪いというものの、渡せば随分渡される金があるのに、楮殿へは不体裁に見せかけ、おのずから光るように謀ったのも銀杏殿とぐるになって起こったことじゃ。いかに楮の心は優しやわらかな花じゃといっても、そう和せぬもの。面憎や、金の工面も算用も元が絡繰物じゃから、薇殿の葉根元とはきつい事じゃ。あれ、あのように楮殿が広言を並べて、もしいい訳があるなら言ったがよい。一言も出ぬというのは、みんな木の葉を被ったのじゃ。銀杏殿が第一悪い。木頭にもなる木なら、外の草木の不品行も異見をする身の上で、おとなしくないというもの。

What grudge causes you to hate Lord Kōzo? And though you say Lord Zenmai of the leaf base is bad, there is plenty of money that could be given if one were to give it, yet making it appear disgraceful to Lord Kōzo and scheming to make oneself shine naturally - this too arose from being in league with Lord Ginkgo. No matter how gentle and soft a flower Kōzo's heart may be, it will not harmonize with such things. How detestable! The financial arrangements and calculations are all mechanical contrivances, so Lord Zenmai's position at the leaf base is indeed a harsh matter. Look there! Lord Kōzo lines up such boastful words - if there were good excuses, it would be better to speak them. That not a single word comes out means everyone is hiding behind tree leaves. Lord Ginkgo is the worst of all. If one is a tree that could become the tree leader, then being in a position to admonish the misconduct of other plants and trees, one should not be so unruly.
