東西（とうざい）〳〵高ふは御座りますれ共 箱根（はこね）の山ゟ
御断申上なりまする扨此度 当山（とうざん）権現（ごんげん）の社
にて神ぶるまいの催￣ニ付山上の草木集り
花舞木（かぶき）芝居を取組橘の精（せい）桑（くわ）の精 銀杏（いてう）
かうぞの類迄不残罷出相勤御覧に入奉り
まするしかる所 銀杏（いてう）の精（せい）かうぞの花元ゟ
根のあるいざこざを仕り万木枝葉をさわがし
ましてござりまするそのあらましをかいつまみ左￣ニ
あらはし御覧に入奉りまするさよふ￣ニ思召下され
ませふ
わけて奉申上ます
下手（へた）の長口上 狂言（けふげん）のさまたげに御座りますれ
ど草木（そうもく）のるいは上々（うへ〳〵）下々（しも〳〵）にいたる迄御てうあいの
現代語訳
口上
東西東西、高うございますけれども、箱根の山から
お断り申し上げます。さて、この度当山権現の社
にて神振舞いの催しにつき、山上の草木が集まり、
歌舞伎芝居を取り組みます。橘の精、桑の精、銀杏、
楮の類まで残らず罷り出て相勤め、ご覧に入れ
ます。しかるところ、銀杏の精、楮の花元から
根のある諍いを仕り、万木枝葉を騒がし
ましてございます。その荒ましを掻い摘み左のように
表して、ご覧に入れます。そのようにお思し召し下さい
ませ。
わけて申し上げます
下手の長口上、狂言の妨げでございます
けれど、草木の類は上々下々に至るまでご重愛の

Announcement
Attention, attention! Though it may seem presumptuous, we make this announcement from Mount Hakone. Now, on this occasion, at the shrine of our mountain's gongen deity, we hold a divine celebration, and the plants and trees of the mountaintop gather to perform kabuki theater. The spirits of tachibana orange, mulberry, ginkgo, and paper mulberry trees all come forth without exception to serve and present a performance for your viewing. However, the ginkgo spirit and the paper mulberry blossom have started
a deep-rooted quarrel, causing all the trees' branches and leaves to be in uproar. We will summarize this situation and present it as follows for your viewing. Please regard it in this light.
