問ハレケレバ弟王 隠匿（カク）スハ君ニ事フルノ礼ニ
アラズト王后ノ穢行及ビ自カラ之ヲ誅戮シタ

玉ヒ若シ吾ヲシテ卿ノ位置ニアラシムルモ亦
其処置此ノ如クナランノミ恐クハ吾ナラバ一
婦人ヲ殺スモ猶其憤リヲ晴スニ足ラズ尚ホ数
千人ヲ罪スベカリシナラン卿ノ不幸実ニ奇ト
云ベシ恐クハ江湖（ヨノナカ）此ノ如キ奇禍再ビアルベカ
ラズ卿ノ所置既ニ神明ノ怒リヲ慰ムルニ足レ
ルモ卿ノ悲傷已マザルハ固ヨリ理ノ当然ナリ
現代語訳
問われたので弟王は「隠すのは君主にお仕えする礼儀ではない」として、王后の不貞行為および自らこれを処刑した一部始終を包み隠すことなく語った。帝はその罪を甚だしく憎まれ、「もし私を卿の立場に置いたとしても、またその処置はこのようになるであろうだけでなく、おそらく私であれば一人の婦人を殺すだけでもまだその憤りを晴らすのに足りず、さらに数千人を罪に問うであろう。卿の不幸は実に奇異というべきである。おそらく世の中にこのような奇禍が再びあることはないであろう。卿の処置は既に神明の怒りを慰めるに足りているが、卿の悲しみが止まないのは、もとより理の当然である」と言われた。

When thus questioned, the younger brother king replied, "To conceal this would not be proper conduct in serving my lord," and recounted without hiding anything the adulterous conduct of the queen and the complete circumstances of how he himself had executed her. The emperor greatly abhorred her sin and said, "If I were placed in your position, not only would my treatment be the same, but perhaps if it were me, killing one woman would still not suffice to vent my anger, and I would likely have condemned thousands more to punishment. Your misfortune is truly extraordinary. Probably such a strange calamity will never occur again in this world. Your action has already sufficed to appease the wrath of the gods, but that your grief does not cease is naturally reasonable."
