とを脅したけれども、自分で考えてみると、むやみに愛する妻の命を断つのは本意ではない。きっとその頑固さを解く方法があるはずだ。多くの人に説得してもらうのがよいだろうと、そこで舅姑その他妻の親族を呼び集めて言うには「さて今日このように皆様をお招きした理由は、他でもありません。愚妻がこのように頑固な論を主張しております」と昨夜からの一部始終を一つ一つ語り、「どうか皆様のお力により、愚妻の頑固さを開き、愚妻に自らその間違いを悟らせてください」とひたすら懇願したので、舅姑等も声を揃えて代わる代わる教え諭し、その愚かな論を止めさせ
