現代語訳
一頭の馬にまたがり、背中に一つの袋を縛り付けて出発しました。袋の中には乾パンと数個のナツメヤシの実を蓄えておりました。遠い土地へと旅をしましたが、無事にその地に到着し、用事を済ませて帰路についたのです。
折しも夏の真っ盛りであったので、炎熱は非常に耐え難く、涼しい場所を見つけては暫く休息しつつ、かろうじて釜で焼かれるような苦しみを避けておりました。
四日目になると、特に炎熱が激しいのを感じ、あちこちと涼しい場所を探し求めていたところ、道端に樹木が鬱蒼と茂り、その傍らに清らかな泉が勢いよく湧き出ているのを見つけました。これは好都合だと馬から降り、まず馬を木の枝に繋ぎ、自分は岸辺に腰を下ろし

He mounted a single horse and tied a cloth bag to its back. Inside the bag he had stored hardtack and several dates. He traveled to a distant land, safely reached his destination, completed his business, and set out on the return journey.
Since it was the height of summer, the scorching heat was extremely unbearable. Whenever he found a cool place, he would rest for a while, barely avoiding the agony of being roasted as if in a furnace.
On the fourth day, feeling the heat to be particularly intense, he searched here and there for a cool place. By the roadside, he discovered trees growing luxuriantly with a clear spring gushing forth vigorously nearby. Thinking this was most fortunate, he dismounted from his horse, first tied the horse to a tree branch, and seated himself on the bank.
