シ泣々家人ニ別ヲ告ケ期日ヲ違ヘズ約地ニ至
リ魔君ノ来ルヲ待居タルニ忽チ一老翁 一匹（イツピキ）ノ
麀（メシカ）ヲ牽（ヒ）キ来リ此商人ニ恭（ウヤ〳〵）シク礼ヲ施コシ何人
ニシテ何故斯ク僻地ニ来リ物待チ玉フ如ク坐
シ玉フヤト問ケレバ商人其顛末ヲ語リケルニ
彼老翁奇事ト称シテ未タ止マザルニ又見ル一
老翁二匹ノ黒犬ヲ牽（ヒ）キ来ルアリ此老翁亦同ジ
ク問フテ商人ノ物語ヲ聞キ其状ヲ目撃セント
前翁ト共ニ暫ク此地ニ留ランコトヲ議シ卒リ
タルヤイナ一面ニ当リテ風ニ旋（マカ）レタル砂塵カ

泣く泣く家人に別れを告げ、期日を違えず約束の地に至り、魔王の来るのを待っていたところ、忽ち一人の老翁が一匹の雌鹿を連れてやって来て、この商人に恭しく礼をし、「どなたで、何故このような僻地に来て、物を待つように座していらっしゃるのか」と問うたので、商人はその一部始終を語った。その老翁は奇なることだと言って、まだそこに留まっていると、また見ると一人の老翁が二匹の黒犬を連れて来るのがあった。この老翁もまた同じように問うて商人の物語を聞き、その様子を目撃しようと前の翁と共にしばらくこの地に留まろうことを相談し終わったかと思うや、一面に当たって風に巻かれた砂塵が

tearfully bid farewell to his family, and without missing the appointed day, arrived at the promised place and waited for the demon king to come. Suddenly, an old man appeared leading a doe, bowed respectfully to the merchant, and asked, "Who are you, and why have you come to such a remote place and sit as if waiting for something?"
