奇怪ナリ若シ大君真ニ之ヲ奇トセバ願クハ均
シク此商人半身ノ血ヲ分与シ賜ヘト請ヒケル
ニ魔君同ジク其請ヲ許シケレバ後ノ老翁乃チ
下回ノ物語ヲ初メタリ

このような奇事が再びあるでしょうか」と語ったので、魔王はこれを承諾し、約束通り商人の半分の血をお前に与えようと許可した。それが終わるか終わらないうちに、後から来た老人もまた魔王の前に進み出て「この老人の物語はさらに奇怪です。もし殿下が真にこれを奇異とお思いになるなら、どうか同じくこの商人の半分の血を分け与えてください」と請うた。魔王は同じくその願いを許可したので、後の老人はそこで次の物語を始めた。
